The Challenge

Asahi is the third largest brewing group globally and has an enviable portfolio of premium beers such as Asahi Super Dry, Peroni Nastro Azzuro, Kozel, Pilsner Urquell and Grolsch. As part of a strategic initiative to focus on the margin-rich monopoly markets in the Nordics, Cesium Group was retained to search for a Country Manager for the Swedish market to oversee the transition to a new distribution partner and deliver against an aggressive growth plan.

The Solution

The Cesium Group team undertook a rapid market mapping exercise covering beers, wine, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages, exploring both distributors and brand owners who had enjoyed a period of rapid growth in the Swedish market. The team quickly identified and engaged with a diverse talent pool who possessed the skills, leadership behaviours and track record of growth required to deliver growth and change at pace for Asahi.
